Transformed support for international students from an international UWL graduate

An overseas graduate student of UWL, Andreea-Daniela Coroama, is the university's first International Student Experience Coordinator. She studied a degree in Business Studies and Marketing at UWL, now she's dedicated to helping international students have the best experience possible.

She said: ''I understand the challenges so many students face when they come to the UK...I learnt that the best way of enjoying my time at university was to get involved and take every opportunity to be part of this incredible community. This is the message I share with students as I want them to love their time here as much as I did.

''UWL has supported me throughout my journey, and I am so happy to be able to give that level of help back to others. This is what makes the university so special, and I am delighted to be a part of it and make a difference to our students.''

New international students to UWL can be sure someone is there to support them who understands what they're going through.

*A modern university is a university created after 1992

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

There are country-specific criteria for entry to UWL. If students have a qualification higher than A Level (or equivalent), they may enter directly to Year 2 or Year 3 of an undergraduate degree course.

Non-native English speakers and those whose previous studies weren't entirely in English must meet UWL's language requirements. Students usually need a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 in listening, reading, speaking and writing. Tests have to be from an approved UKWI test centre.

Because of Covid-19, UWL accepts the following language tests from non-EU international students in 2022. They will need the relevant overall scores:

  • IELTS Indicator – foundation 5.5, undergraduate 6.0, postgraduate 6.5
  • Pearson Versant – foundation 60, undergraduate 64, postgraduate 69

International students who don't meet the language requirements can take a pre-sessional English language programme. This takes place at UWL before the start of the academic course.
