The University of Reading has a rich history. Established in 1892 as an extension college of Oxford University and granted its Royal Charter in 1926, the university has established itself as a globally connected institution with an excellent reputation for research and teaching quality. The university was ranked 202 in the QS World University Rankings 2022.
Located on an award-winning campus close to London, the university has a community of around 5,000 international students from over 165 countries. Reading makes the effort to ensure all students are well integrated with dozens of clubs and societies, and an impressive selection of sports and leisure facilities. Students are well taken care of with a wide range of support services that ensure they are assisted during their time at the university.
Students can choose from approximately 500 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and 98 per cent of the research conducted at the institution has been internationally recognised (REF 2014). The university demonstrates a firm commitment to remaining at the cutting-edge of advances in teaching and learning, encouraging a collaborative environment amongst staff and within the student community. In order to help with funding, the University of Reading also offers a variety of scholarships for students at all levels.
GBP 500 million has been invested in the university campus, covering accommodation, research and teaching. The ''2026: Transform'' project, is a GBP 200 million investment aimed at improving campus facilities. The complete refurbishment of the library and opening of a new Health and Life Sciences building are among the key developments. Plans for global creative media and film hub reflect the university's collaboration with external partners.
