What's New

Reach Community College has recently adjusted its delivery modes to adapt to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic both in Australia and worldwide. Through these new arrangements, students can start or continue their studies via eLearning, online live stream, face-to-face classes, or a combination of all three. These new study arrangements can allow students to study at their own pace and have access to consultations and guidance from their trainer, wherever they are located.

Reach Community College is currently the only education provider in Hobart delivering courses in Civil Construction Design, one of the fastest growing industries in Australia. Students learn the skills needed for the implementation of infrastructure projects, through the production of computer-aided designs and engineering drawings. These courses are highly technical and are delivered mainly via online live stream.

Reach Community College promotions are tailored to each market. Students can find the right course at the right price.

The college guarantees vocational placement for students. Vocational placement is an essential component of some qualifications, as it consolidates the students' knowledge within a real-world environment, applying theory to practice.

Department structure

Department structure

Reach Community College has five faculties that provide quality vocational education and training:

Faculty of English

Reach Community College's ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) courses focus on an active-learning approach. Students take a more dominant role in the classroom, offering General English from elementary to advanced levels.

Faculty of Business and Technology

This faculty offers qualifications in accounting, information technology, logistics, management, graduate studies and building and civil construction design. Many qualifications in this school can be delivered entirely online to offer more flexibility to students.

Faculty of Early Childhood & Community Services

This faculty offers qualifications in Community Services. Students can gain valuable practical learning within Reach's on-campus simulated labs and apply their studies via vocational placement.

Faculty of Tech Sciences

This faculty offers qualifications in automotive and electrical technology and has a fully equipped tech science workshop for students to apply their theoretical learning in a hands-on environment.

Faculty of Hospitality

This faculty offers qualifications in cookery, hospitality, event management, and travel and tourism. It has a commercial training restaurant in Hobart for students to learn and practice their food preparation and service skills.

Study options

Reach Community College offers a variety of study options to students. Each faculty of Reach has adjusted its delivery modes to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic. Depending on the qualification, students may study via eLearning, Online Live Stream, face-to-face classes, or a combination of all three. Through these study arrangements, offshore students can start their studies prior to gaining a successful visa grant.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Reach Community College fosters a positive student learning environment that considers the learning styles and best study outcomes for each student. Entry requirements are in place to ensure that students who enrol with Reach meet the minimum entry requirements in order to successfully complete their studies with the opportunity to develop useful English language and literacy skills.

Students who enrol to study any of the following levels of qualification with Reach will require:

Academic Entry Requirement:

For enrolment in any Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Graduate Diploma qualification:

  • Students must be 18 years old and above
  • Successful completion of Australian Year 12 or Australian equivalent

English requirement:

For enrolment in any Certificates, Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas, the following is a minimum English requirement:

  • A minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent

For enrolment in any Graduate Diploma's, the following is a minimum English requirement:

  • A minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

International Students who do not meet the English language requirements may be required to take an English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) according to the Reach Community College English Learning Matrix.

Students should be aware that some qualifications may have additional entry requirements as listed on training.gov.au. More information can be found under each specific course on the Reach Community College website.

Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

Tuition fees differ depending on the course and length of study. Information on tuition and non-tuition fees can be found on the Reach Community College website or during a pre-enrolment consultation.

To study in Australia, international students also need to have adequate health insurance for the full duration of their student visa. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) can help international students meet the costs of medical and hospital care during their time in Australia.

Due to COVID-19, Reach Community College has adapted its course delivery methods. Students can now choose to study online, via eLearning, face-to-face, or a combination of all three. As a result of these new study methods, international students can begin their studies before obtaining a successful visa grant.

Reach Community College doesn't offer scholarships or bursaries, however international students can apply to external agencies to fund their studies.
