Macquarie offers more than 200 degrees across multiple disciplines, including the largest range of one-year master degrees in Australia. The university also offers a variety of double degrees, so students can combine interests and diversify career prospects.

In recent years the university has invested more than AUD 1 billion in its world-class 126-hectare green campus. It is equipped with advanced digital facilities, extensive support services, as well as being the only Australian university with an on-campus private hospital and train station.

AASCB Accreditation

Macquarie Business school has been recognised with the distinguished AACSB International accreditation.

AACSB is the oldest-serving accreditation worldwide body for business schools. It recognises institutions who demonstrate excellence in a variety of areas, including teaching, research, curricula development and student learning.

Research partnership with Tata Consultancy Services

Macquarie University has recently announced a new research agreement with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

This partnership will provide students with unique opportunities to gain valuable real-world experience in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI) within the financial services sector.

The partnership will create future opportunities for Macquarie students, including access to the Tata Global Internship Programme (TGIP), where students develop critical business skills while working on real global projects. On these internships, students learn how Tata manages operations in its companies, across a wide range of industries.

As part of this comprehensive agreement, Macquarie and TCS will also provide research scholarships to postgraduate students. This will provide global research exposure, access to international conferences and opportunities to work on projects that explore the use of data analytics and AI within the financial sector.

Undergraduate

The university offers single and double bachelor's degrees.

When studying a single bachelor degree, students can specialise in one or two majors within their chosen area of study, while still accessing flexible elective units to explore other interests. Single degrees are ideal for students with a strong interest in one area or a specific career goal.

A double bachelor's degrees involves studying two complementary or completely different degrees. A double degrees can help students increase their career flexibility and lead to greater employment prospects.

Postgraduate

Macquarie offers the largest range of one-year master degrees in Australia, helping students to advance their knowledge and career prospects.

The university also offers a wide range of others postgraduate programmes. This includes English pathways, executive training, study tour and study abroad programmes, double masters, Master of Research and PhDs.

Depending on prior academic qualifications, work experience or other recognised prior learning, students can be eligible for a one-year admission point into their chosen master degree. This enables them to fast track their studies, saving time and money. Double master students can also complete two master's degrees within two years.

Undergraduate programmes

International applicants to undergraduate programs at Macquarie need to have completed at least one of the following academic qualifications:

  • A recognised senior secondary school qualification or university entrance examination (such as the New South Wales Higher School Certificate or other equivalent Australian or overseas high school qualification).
  • A recognised university foundation course
  • A recognised two or three-year diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree
  • At least one year of a university degree from a recognised institution

Postgraduate program

Masters (by coursework)

Applicants will usually need a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution considered equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree (Level 7 on the Australian Qualifications Framework).

Some courses also require applicants to have previous study or work experience in a related area, a higher-level qualification such as an Honours Bachelor (AQF Level 8), or a specific Weight Average Mark (WAM) requirement.

Depending on applicants' prior qualifications, work experience, or other recognised prior learning, they may also be eligible for shorter admission points for masters courses. Ranging between 12-18 months, this enables students to fast track their study and save on time and money.

Masters (by research)

To apply for a research master or PhD programme, applicants need to demonstrate research experience in their previous studies.

Library

Macquarie University Hospital

This is the first not-for-profit teaching hospital on an Australian university campus.

Scholarships & funding

Macquarie offers one of the most generous scholarship programmes for international students in Australia. The university awards over AUD 4 million in scholarships and grants each year to students from different backgrounds and nationalities. Some of the biggest scholarship options include:

Country Specific Scholarship

The university offers a wide range of tuition fee waiver scholarships for international students from priority markets. Awarding from AUD 5,000 up to AUD 10,000 per year, scholarships are applied towards tuition fees for the duration of the programme of study.

Government and Partner Scholarships

Macquarie is an approved provider for many international government and academic institution scholarship programs. This includes recipients of the Australia Awards program, which is funded by the Australian government.

Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarships
